"In the Fall of 2019, United States FDA issued a warning letter to JUUL Labs, Inc. for misleading claims and for marketing specifically to school-age kids (Jenssen)."  The JUUL company is facing several lawsuits including a lawsuit from the NY Attorney General's Office for their deceitful marketing strategies.  Flavored vapes are the most popular among teens.  In December 2019, the national law increased the age to purchase tobacco products to the age of 21.

JUUL is an e cigarette that is easily hidden due to its shape like a USB flash drive.  JUUL is very popular among teens and young adults.  It's the top-selling e cigarette brand in the U.S.  JUUL contains a high level of nicotine and nicotine salts.  Nicotine salts allow nicotine to be inhaled easily and with less irritation than free-base nicotine in tobacco products.  Two-thirds of JUUL users aged 15-24 don't always even realize that it contains nicotine.

"I Love Blue Raspberry Candy."  "Beard Vape."   Delicious flavors:  mint, mango, creme brulee, fruit Are vaping companies like JUUL targeting teens/young adults? Vaping companies insist their products are made for responsible adults.  However, their products have fun names and fruity flavors.  Their ads portray teens having fun.  Vapes are very popular among high school students/young adults.  The product is discreet, compact, and can be easily hidden.  Are we allowing these companies to create another generation addicted to nicotine? One vape pod is equal to the amount of nicotine in one whole pack of cigarettes.  Long term effects are still unknown at this time.  What kind of damage is vaping doing?  Nicotine is known for its addictive quality and damages brain development.  It's alarming that we have teens with developing brains and bodies vaping with a substance known to damage brain development.

Thanksgiving Break

Much needed rest to get through the rest of the semester.  It was a busy holiday week besides Saturday and Sunday.  I really needed and appreciated the relaxation and rest.  It was nice to have the Christmas tree decorated and to watch some favorite Christmas movies.  It was refreshing.  Grudgingly, I did do some online shopping.  I didn't even want to do online shopping this past weekend.

Christmas Tree Day

Christmas Tree Time!  The best part of the holidays for me is when we get our Christmas tree.  We go every year the day after Thanksgiving.  I love walking in the bitter cold to find the perfect tree.  I love the smell of a fresh Christmas tree.  I love the warm glow at night from the tree.  A lighted tree makes everything seem so peaceful and serene.

Rational argument topic?

I'm honestly not sure what the appeal of vaping provides for teens.  However, is the government doing enough to keep vapes out of teens possession?  The legal age to purchase cigarettes and vapes has been raised to the age of 21.  Is that enough?  What about the fact that vaping companies target teenagers with their cartoon like images, fruity flavors, and names of the vapes.  JUUL's are as small as a flash-drive.  Should there be more severe consequences for vaping companies or gas stations that still sell underage teens vapes?

I am considering the topic of climate change, for my rational argument.  Climate change is happening.  I think people don't want to be aware of the harm that humans are causing to the Earth everyday.  We really need to consider our everyday actions from that bottled water you purchased to recycling.  Bottled water is harmful to our environment.  Companies like Nestle, find water sources and use up the resources.  Once the water and resources are gone, so is Nestle.  Something to think about...
