Don't Break the Ice!
Balog, returns for the first visit to check on their cameras. The brutal weather of the glaciers have not been kind to his equipment. Several of the cameras have damage or didn't take pictures. The passion for his project is felt through the screen. He curses and cries into his shoulder. I can feel his frustration and anger in that moment. It's heartbreaking. I want to cry with him. It feels devastating that there is no footage to show for all of his hard work and efforts. He's trying to capture these amazing, yet horrifying pictures. However, it fails.
We are aware of the effects of global warming. Most people choose to ignore it. However, the rate of the melting glaciers is terrifying. We should be worried about climate change and the future generations. The world should be alarmed at the rapid speed of the melting glaciers. Humans are destroying our Earth, our home. James Balog's determination is remarkable. Balog and his crew face dangerous weather elements and long hikes. Balog suffers from knee problems. However, he has knee surgery and goes right back to his beloved project despite his doctor's recommendations.
After watching this documentary, it leaves certain questions. When will humans realize and be responsible for their own part in global warming? This documentary was released in 2012. We can only imagine the further melting of the glaciers since that time. Does James Balog have another project he is working on? Does he continue to warn others of climate change? Hopefully, he is still trying to make the Earth a better place for his girls.
Love this post, Amber! Yes to the passion! How does Balog do it? Great post. I share your concerns, and I hope we move in a better direction ;)
